The heavily-tagged doorway of one of Friedrichshain’s few remaining squats, Rigaerstr. 83.
Although the city has forcibly cleared many of the occupied houses from the former East in recent years, there are a couple more squats along this street, and more on adjacent streets too – as well as anarchist bars, left-wing shops and community projects.
The whole street is fascinating in fact. Theodor Plievier, author of anti-war novel Stalingrad, used to live at No. 68.
